On July the 9th our friend Nay "Ventura" aka Carlos took us on a fishing trip and we caught some lunch

Carlos came by our house around 10 a.m. asking if we would like to join him today…. We knew that it is going to be a great fun so without thinking too much we changed our cloths and came down to his house. After packing all we needed (fishing rod and fishing net = taraffa) we went down to the river and jumped in a wooden canoe. It took us short 10-15 min to paddle across the river to Baia Formosa.
Boat secured and attached to the post – vamos! Time to explore stunning mangroves! Water here is so clear that we caught our first crab straight away. First throw of the net by Carlos and there we go! We have 7 cat fishes for lunch. Could not be any better. Time for us to prove our skills…. Not so easy though! After few tries we caught a blow fish – not eatable and a tiny flat fish – too small to eat so we put both of them back to the river. We have tried a little bit of fishing rod but the net is definitely the most successful thing to use in here.
To finish this adventure Carlos decided to hunt for some red and yellow crabs. For this task he made some mud bolls, than using a stick and his singing talent, made some noise to attract them and throw the mud ball at them. Hard to believe how fast these little creatures are! No success, but it was not the end! Carlos started to dig the whole to get a crab, covered with mud and surrounded by midges was trying really hard for good 10 minutes. Oh well…. Probably next time we will be luckier. We took our way back home.
After filleting cat fish we prepared an amazing barbecue. It was more than enough for four people! We will definitely do it again!
