Barra do Cunhau Beach Football Championship 2010

1st Copa Mário Mendes de Futebol de Areia 2010

Between 18th and 19th of September beach in Barra do Cunhau was crowded with football teams, supporters and whole families enjoying Barra's 1st Football on the Sand tournament. Competition was organized by local taxi driver Netto, who arranged the contacted all teams, prepared the place and organized prizes for winners.

In the final two teams from Barra do Cunhau were playing for the highest pries. Beginning of the game was definitely more lucky for CUNHAÚ team, they scored first two goals, however CRUZEIRO did not give up, scoring one and then another goal. That was the beginning of this dramatic match. CUNHAÚ took the leading again establishing new score 3-2. Few minutes later score has changed to 3-3. Last minutes of the game CUNHAÚ was leading with 4-3 when the CRUZEIRO scored in last moment their 4th goal. Emotion was not the end as the referee announced penalties. Finally after great savings of the goalkeeper CRUZEIRO team won the tournament with the score 8-7!

It was exciting competition, full of emotions, yellow and red cards, spitted opinions about goals . . . Without a doubt everybody had a good time and is looking for the next year Copa Mário de Futebol de Areia. After all one thing has to be said: it is a shame is that any team had to loose and the only winner was football!
