On 7th of September around 10:30 a.m. all the cowboys of Barra do Cunhau were gathering near the centre of the town. It was the day for an annual Cavalgada. Everybody was very excited, wearing the same Cavalgada t-shirt and drinking first Cachaça. March with horses started few minutes after 11 a.m. with first fire cracker.

As the parade was moving through the town, more Cachaça was poured, there were more fireworks, young and old horse riders were enjoying the event, even weather changed and beautiful sunshine made it all much better.

Time to time was a short break for a drink and another photo - even the smallest ones were enjoying their liquid from the cup - we hope it was just a juice . . .

There was a police incident - one horse smashed the back light of the car. Luckily some Reals fixed the problem and the march could continue. After 1.5 hour we reached the river, horses started to cross through the water towards Sibauma.  As we left Cachaça was starting to effect some of the cowboys...

We are not sure what has happened later, we have been told that last year everybody was lost in the sugarcane field... hope they were took main road this time.

Next year we are planning to take a part in the Cavalgada riding horses and so we can cover the whole event from start to finish.
